On Friday, November 12th the Coastal Christian School Rams basketball team opened the 2010 – 2011 season with a 68 to 28 victory over the Madison Christian Flames. The CCS starting five gave the team a quick 13 point lead in the first quarter, then the strong CCS bench took over the game and carried the team to the win. The bench personnel scored 49 of the team’s 68 points.
Rookie Maty Moore led all scorers with 16 points while fellow rookie Logan Robitaille added 10. Other Coastal scorers were Mason Vermilion and Tony Lombardo with 7 points each, Jonah Cronkhite with 6, Vinny Lombardo with 5, Caleb McLaughlin and Cameron Allen with 4 each, Peter Ochoa with 3, and Harry Stred, Jesse Delano, and Matt Nicewonger with 2 each.
The young Flames were led by the Johnston brothers who combined to score 22 of the team’s 28 points.
The Rams will be tested in their next game on Friday, November 26th at home by the always tough Royals of South Hope. It should be an action packed season as five of the seven teams in the league’s northern division should be very competitive and will be competing for the four playoff spots.
Ethan Townsend and Peter Ochoa are this year’s only seniors. These two seniors along with five juniors, two sophomores, one freshman, and six junior high players provide a promising present and future for the Rams.
The players and coaches would appreciate your prayers that we are free this season from sickness and injuries and that our attitudes and play will be honoring to God.
